BGK Bunkering upgraded and expanded its bunker tanker fleet to meet increasing demand from its service locations in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

The new requirements especially from tanker owners, has prompted BGK to enlarge the bunker tanker fleet.BGK has chartered two bunker tankers of 7,500 (dwt) 2008-built and 6,100 dwt 2009-built, expanding the bunker tanker fleet to eight.

The 6,100 dwt bunker tanker will be positioned at the ports of Bandar Imam Khomeini (BIK) and Mahshahr, located in the northwest of the Persian Gulf, where BGK started operations in mid-July.

The rest of the tankers will operate at Bandar Abbas port and at both Jazireh-ye Larak and Jazireh-ye Hormuz islands in the Strait of Hormuz, south of the port.

BGK gives priority to the safety as well as quality and four of the tankers, including the 6,100 dwt, are oil major-approved vessels.

BGK has employed one service boat and one tug boat for its business in Bandar Abbas and the Strait of Hormuz. The two boats will be at BGK service by mid september.

By employing the boats, BGK has facilitated the services for crew change and also improving overall safety during bunkering operations for any fire fighting and combating oil spill.

The supply and demand in the market has seen stable growth and BGK being successful to meet its target, has assured its clients to meet their demand at Bandar Abbas port and the two offshore supply locations south of the port in the Strait of Hormuz.

Bunkering operations at the Persian Gulf port of Asaluyeh in the southwestern Iranian province of Bushehr, is the future plan of BGK in order to offer bunkering services as the first company at the port.
